Captains Report -  Show jumping clinic 7th March 2010.

Our show jumping clinic was run by Jane Frankum a pony club show jumping instructor from Camden who gave all our riders from E to C grade some new found skills and confidence making the Show Jumping Clinic a great success.

Thanks to Donna Dorahy for her meticulous organization of the Clinic with the assistance of Mandy Bale and Trina Chaney Butt.

There were also a number of additional volunteer instructors managing small groups for training. Thanks to Lorraine Carter, Donna, Britt and Ester. Lorraine, our Senior Instructor, was busy on the back paddock running the children through trot diagonals, 2 point positions, and Equitation handy hints. Donna was running her own training session concurrently.  Britt took on the Beginners arena, and I'd like everyone to know that our 3 Beginners were bending, flagging and sock racing and not only that - they've done their first Show Jumping Course and visited the Cross Country Course and Dressage arena all in one day. Finally Ester managed a group in cross country training giving them support, encouragement and personal experience. It was wonderful to see so much organised activity.

Donna is now full swing organizing the Closed Show Jumping on 21st March 2010. As this is a Closed Event you need to wear your formal uniform which includes a shirt and tie please.

Thank you to Lorraine also attends Pony Club Zone and Area meetings on our behalf during the week (as well as full time teaching!).

There are many other who volunteer to make the day enjoyable not only for our riders but also their support crew. I would like to mention a few - Grace, Deb and team in the Canteen, and a special thanks to Lauren's Dad who was chief pole picker all day for the Coaching Clinic. The list goes on and though I might not remember everyone who did everything I do know that there is a wonderful team of parents who help without being asked. Nobody goes unnoticed!

From DPC- a huge thanks again to all the riders and helpers today at our Club...
Regards,

Vivian

Sporting Injuries Committee

Vivian Bouchier DPC Safety Officer with DPC members

At Dural Pony Club our committee rates safety as our Number One priority.  In 2006 our safety officer, Vivian Bouchier, implemented a program to make DPC a safer place to ride by increasing our members' awareness of preventing accidents around horses and teaching parents and riders how to minimise injury when accidents do happen.

Vivian's efforts culminated in her entering Dural Pony Club in the Sports Safety Committee (NSW Govt) sports Safety Awards in the category "Outstanding Achievement by a Sports Organisation In Implementing and Adopting Safe Sports Practice".
